NH Narayana Superspeciality Hospital
01The Challenge
NH Narayana Superspeciality Hospital operates one of Eastern India’s most advanced cardiac and multi-speciality care facilities. With multiple wards, operating theatres, ICUs, outpatient departments, and a large administrative block, the hospital had grown beyond its legacy analog EPABX — a system that was creating communication bottlenecks, had no centralised management, and was increasingly expensive to maintain with ageing parts.
The hospital’s IT team needed a replacement system that could handle 200+ extensions across a complex multi-floor, multi-wing building, integrate with their existing structured cabling, and — critically — never go down. In a hospital, a failed internal call is not just inconvenient; it can have clinical implications. The system had to be reliable, scalable, and backed by a support partner who could respond immediately.
- Legacy analog system couldn’t scale beyond existing extensions
- No centralised management or call reporting capability
- Parts availability for aging system was becoming a risk
- Maintenance response times from previous vendor were inadequate
02The Solution
Ankur Telecom conducted a full site survey across all floors and wings of the facility, documented the existing cabling infrastructure, and recommended an AVAYA IP Office deployment — a platform proven in complex healthcare environments, capable of 1,000+ extensions with full centralised management.
Our team managed the entire project from initial site survey to final commissioning: structured cabling audit and patch, AVAYA IP Office hardware installation, 200+ IP and digital handset deployment across wards, reception, admin, and nursing stations, full system testing and staff training, and handover with full documentation and AMC commencement.
The project was completed with minimal disruption to hospital operations — critical during the cutover window. We phased the rollout wing by wing to ensure there was no period where any ward was completely without communication.

03The Outcome
The deployment went live in 2013 and has been running without major incident since. NH Narayana’s IT team reported prompt and effective support from Ankur Telecom from day one — and the hospital has remained on an active AMC with us for over ten years.
